Popular Movies Pg 13! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is merely two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered that you simply list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving takes a different twist. Neither more likely to be specific to Thanksgiving, but they relate to some themes with the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving and for any day in the year.

Big oil company propaganda having a heart! Just the free movie we require for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one of the most lyrical American films ever produced. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation inside United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of the Cajun boy with his fantastic family, living on the bayous in such a way of life that individuals can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land towards the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything much like it was, clean and unspoiled apart from the family features a little more money. (Yes, it was funded through the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends the majority of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating over the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, along with his pet raccoon. He never wears an existence preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to get in touch with case he gets having problems. There is not much story, simply a celebration (such stunning monochrome photography that you can well wonder exactly what the big deal is approximately color) of an way of life that's no longer along with us.

A grayscale silent film that ends having a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, just what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc within this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever made. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died thinking that the last copy was destroyed. In a bit of weirdness that sounds similar to a movie than the truth, a practically complete print was discovered in 1981 in a janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that we can watch this magnificent film, on many lists in the greatest films ever, totally free online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered a difficult breakdown through the making of the film, and she or he never made another film. Pauline Kael (more), a notoriously demanding film critic, declared Falconetti's performance "may be the finest performance ever recorded on film."
